Paulina Gretzky And Her Friends Thought Dustin Johnson Won The US Open And Celebrated When He Made Birdie On 18, Whoops!
New York Post- At least Paulina Gretzky will know how to celebrate next year, should Dustin Johnson win another US Open. While watching her fiancé on the green at Shinnecock Hills, the Great One’s daughter “erupted in euphorics” with two female friends, according to NJ.com, after the 33-year-old golfer made a birdie putt on the 72nd hole. “Did Dustin just win?” one of the women allegedly asked, before Brooks Koepka tapped in a bogey to secure back-to-back US Open titles. “Brooks just won,” soon followed from the group. Johnson finished two strokes behind Koepka. Those two victories followed Johnson’s 2016 triumph at Oakmont. Johnson was four strokes clear of the field heading into the weekend before a 77 in Saturday’s brutal conditions left him in a tie for the lead. Johnson was in the mix most of the day Sunday, amid a tightly bunched leaderboard, but succumbed to three bogeys on the back nine as Koepka held on for history.
So that’s not the greatest look for Paulina and her crew. Sounds like they went bananas when Dustin Johnson made birdie on the 72nd hole cause they thought he won. Whoops! One of them even asked out loud, “Did Dustin just win?” so that had to be pretty awkward when somebody told them that he didn’t win.
In Paulina’s defense, it’s gotta be hard for her to pay attention to who’s leading the tournament when she’s getting mobbed by fans every two seconds to take a picture. Me, Frankie and Riggs (we had credentials) saw Paulina walking along with Dustin’s group on Saturday and she was more famous than DJ out there. I’m not even kidding. We were at the US Open, DJ was dominating the tournament and he had been relegated to being Paulina Gretzky’s baby daddy. No one was even watching the golf. People were either taking a picture with Paulina, waiting to taking a picture with Paulina or waiting to tweet out the picture they had just taken with Paulina. She took no less than 400 pictures during the 20 minutes we saw her. She was the star of the show, a conquering hero. And you know what? To her credit, she didn’t turn down a single picture. Not one. She obliged every single time. She was nice to everybody. She’s a woman of the people. So yeah, sorry she doesn’t know who’s winning what when she’s being treated like The Beatles out there.
