BREAKING: Kawhi Leonard Reportedly Wants Out Of San Antonio

Holy. Shit.

A day after it was reported that Tim Duncan and Pop were in New York, presumably to meet with Kawhi and figure everything out, we have ourselves a good old fashioned Friday Shambomb. Everything that was being reported over the last couple of days was that Kawhi was trying to figure everything out and the Spurs were trying to fix whatever broken relationship there was.

Now? Good luck figuring anything out. Kawhi is forcing his hand and it’s the first time we’ve seen this happen to the Spurs. I don’t even know how to react. I mean a robot is out here apparently with feelings and not sticking by the creator of the machine? It almost makes you speechless.

Now as for teams that can trade for Kawhi? The Clippers will likely make an offer using picks 12 and 13 as the main piece here. The Celtics will likely make an offer – remember they reached out at the trade deadline. The biggest thing to think about here is the Spurs just lost a ton of power. They can’t necessarily be picky in what they are getting, especially with Leonard only having one more year on his contract (before a player option). Paul George brought back Dipo and Sabonis for essentially the same deal. Kawhi will demand a bit more than that but I don’t think you’ll see some massive haul. That said he wants to go to the Lakers. Can we see him/LeBron/PG 13?

Just absolutely crazy news right now. When healthy Kawhi is one of the five best players in the game. If this is true, don’t be surprised to see a trade done in the next week with the draft on the 21st. The Spurs will likely want to build from there and start fresh with Murray, White, pick No. 18 and whatever else they get back from Kawhi to go with an aging Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge.
