Friday's Top Ten Time Wasters - Horse Racing Moments
Welcome back to Friday’s Top Ten Time Wasters. With the Belmont Stakes this weekend I figured I’d throw together a list of some of the best moments in horse racing history. I’m not going to lie, it took some research. That and a phone call to my degenerate horse gambling friend, Damien, but I did it. So credit to me. Definitely going to use this list to make some small talk in the paddock tomorrow. No way anyone will able to tell I’m an amateur.
10. Creator upsets Exaggerator in the 2016 Belmont Stakes.
9. Arrogate goes from last to first in the 2017 Dubai World Cup.
8. Victory Gallop beats out Real Quiet by the smallest margin in Belmont history (1998). It was Bob Baffert’s second shot at a Triple Crown.
7. Keen Ice bests American Pharaoh in the 2015 Travers Stakes.
6. Arcangue wins 1993 Breeders cup at 133-1.
5. Underdog Canonero II wins the 1971 Kentucky Derby by three lengths.
4. Affirmed and Alydar settle their rivalry during the 1978 Belmont Stakes. Affirmed wins and in the process secured the 11th Triple Crown in history.
3. Mine That Bird wins the 2006 Kentucky Derby at 50-1.
2. Secretariat wins the 1973 Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths.
1. American Pharaoh wins the Triple Crown.
