Adam Jones Is Making Nike Air Monarchs Great Again
The Orioles may not be having the most successful season on the field, but that doesn’t mean Adam Jones can’t look fresh AF during batting practice. You all know the shoes, the Air Monarchs. I like to call them the “My son is the starting shortstop 8s”, or the “Why isn’t my kid at point guard 4s”, or the “What aisle are the plunger 5s”. Your dad has them, your uncle has them, your grandpa has them, every rec basketball coach you’ve ever seen has them in fact, they all probably have a few pairs, I know my dad has at least 2. You’ve seen them on mailmen, you’ve seen them on plumbers, you’ve seen them on mall walkers, now you are seeing them at MLB stadiums. Adam said on MASN All Access that he teamed up with an Instagram account called “MakeMonarchsGreatAgain” and has been giving them ideas for different shoe styles. Check out the Instagram too, some of the color schemes they have done on the Monarchs are sick. Here are some that he has come up with so far.
The Simpsons DOH!nuts are fantastic. They’re the perfect dad shoe. Every dad likes donuts, and every dad LOVES these shoes. No doubt you’d see these every Saturday morning in coffee and donut shops across the country if they were for sale. Jones is a fan of donuts, so it was only right that he had the Simpsons donut pattern put on the Monarchs. I mean these actually look like legit shoes that you would see some sneakerheads rocking. I’m all in on these donut shoes. Jones takes BP in these shoes, but went 0-4 when wearing these when he wore them pregame and then faced David Price. He said the hitting coach told him the Monarchs messed with his eye level since they have such a high heel on it. Can’t make that up, folks. They still look fire.
The second ones Adam has showed off are more Orioles related. The Orange body with the gray and silver bottom look dope too. I love this look, again, I think they look like normal turf or athletic shoes. Forget spending $150-$200 on the newest kicks, just buy a pair of $65 Air Monarchs, hook them up with a new paint job, and start stunting in them. Adam talked about how damn big these shoes are too. Basically said if you wear an 11 you can put on a size 10 shoe and still have room to put your foot in the shoe. They look really wide and heavy too.
Adam said he decided to start rocking these and having them custom made because of Pete Carroll. He said Carroll rocks custom ones on the sideline to match the Seahawks color scheme, so he decided to as well. I checked it out, and good old 9/11 truther Carroll has some dope shoe game.
You have my word, I’m going to go home this weekend and steal my dads pair of Air Monarchs and try those bad boys on. May even get the custom paint job. May even go to Home Depot and see how they feel in the wild. I’m also going to be keeping an eye out for Adam’s next piece of work., He mentioned that his next idea is a Cookie Monster scheme, can’t wait to see that.
