Even At 60 Years Old, Reggie Miller Is Still Very Much A Walking Bucket

Getty Images. If there's one thing I will always love, it's watching some of the best shooters in not only basketball history, but some of the best shooters to ever walk this Earth work on their craft. For example, whenever we get a video of Steph Curry making 100 straight 3PA after practice, it's always a must watch for yours truly. There will always be hardos who say shit like
"oh wow he's making all these shots in practice! There's not even a defender there, who cares!"
as Steph will go like 15 minutes without ever touching the rim. I dunno man, some of us just like to watch the best to ever do it show why they are the best to ever do it. I've always felt like those clips served as a great reminder of just how insane the 1% are when it comes to basketball and the NBA. It's a level so rare that our normal people's brains can't really comprehend it.
Take Reggie Miller, for example. Unquestionably one of the greatest shooters to ever play the game of basketball, Reggie finished his NBA career with 2,560 3PM, which is now good for 6th all time. Era has a lot to do with that, and as the game changed, so has that list (Steph, Harden, Ray Allen, Dame, Klay Thompson, then Reggie). Growing up, it's hard to explain how massive Reggie Miller was to young basketball fans, even if they weren't Pacers fans. I remember growing up, I had this poster of Reggie Miller taking a jump shot while floating in the clouds (???) and it was one of my most prized possessions. I tried to Google a picture of it so you could see what I'm talking about, but came up empty. If you also had this poster, you knew how sick it was.
Fast forward to 2025, and Reggie Miller is now 60 years old. Most of the younger generation probably only really know him from TV, and that really is a shame. So imagine my delight while scrolling through my timeline and seeing that even at 60 years old, Reggie Miller is still a walking bucket (nice touch to also be wearing Haliburton's shoe, that's cool)
I don't really care if the hardos of the world won't be impressed with this clip, to me, this was fantastic. For starters, seeing Reggie Miller still be this automatic at 60 years old is impressive as hell. As a 38 year old, I can barely walk down my stairs in the morning without fearing that I'm about to pop my achilles. Meanwhile, Reggie looks like the Pacers should seriously consider giving him a 10 day given the fact that their entire roster is injured to start the year. Just throw Reggie in the corner and let him do his thing. I'm only half kidding.
But outside of how cool it was to watch Reggie Miller hit jumper after jumper for a minute straight, it also gave us Reggie talking shit, which was a huge part of his game back in the day. As someone who is always going to be a big time slut for nostalgia, that was maybe my favorite part.
Watching this clip then got me thinking, if Adam Silver really wanted to create buzz around the All Star Weekend, why not have a retired players only 3PT Contest? I'd watch the shit out of that. You need 8 guys, so just off the top of my head, give me a field of these retired players (ranking all time)
- Reggie Miller (6th)
- Ray Allen (3rd)
- Kyle Korver (8th)
- Jamal Crawford (12th)
- Dirk (20th)
- Paul Pierce (15th)
- Vince Carter (10th)
- Steve Nash (37th)
Maybe you have this group go, then a current group of players go, and then they battle it out at the end for the title. Again, I'd watch the shit out of that. You're welcome Adam Silver for the free advice.
There's a reason shooters like Reggie have always been considered one of the greatest to ever do it, and that clip shows you why. When you're at that level, you never lose it. You could be 25, 35, or 60 years old, and it doesn't matter. The second you step on any court in the world, it's time to make it rain.
