'Just Another Day' - 7'9" Olivier Rioux Doesn't Care About Setting History As Being The Tallest Guy To Ever Play College Hoops, Florida Needs To Get Him The Ball
We've talked about Olivier Rioux before:
You get the point. Dude is absurdly tall. Well, last night he made history as the tallest guy to ever play Division I college hoops. Hilarious watching him check in and the 6'8" guy be baffled
You think Rioux cares though? He's basically Fasoli and just doing his job
Here's the problem though. If you're going to play Rioux, you gotta give the people what they want. Throw him a lob. Get him the ball in the post. Todd Golden is supposed to be an offensive genius, run something to throw up to him.
[Source] - “Obviously, the game was in our control, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to get him out there and get his first college experience. I think he was pretty excited. It was pretty neat for him to finally see the floor. I would have liked him to get a touch.”
The crowd was going to wild to get him into the game. There were chants, the announcer said it was the loudest the arena was all night. Feed the big man! He's 7'9" all you gotta do is throw it up to him. Just one time. Throw it as high as possible and you'll probably at least get a shot.
I still want to know what life is like that tall. It can't be comfortable, everything is made for normal sized people. Then again, I can't imagine life at like 6'3", that would be nice too. But at 7'9" you're just constantly getting looks. It's a good thing he's playing college basketball because we all know that if you're tall, people assume you play hoops. If you don't, you get a weird look and people can't fathom that you can't get on the court anywhere.
At least we got some history last night, was way more entertaining than Thursday Night Football, but why the hell wasn't there a good college basketball game on Wednesday or Thursday? We can't be having Kansas/UNC tonight and then St. John's/Alabama and Arkansas/Michigan State tomorrow. Play those earlier in the week so more eyes get on it.
