Jonathan Gannon Had No Choice But To Bench Kyler Murray After Marvin Harrison Sr. Said He 'Can't Watch And Can't Relate' To Their Offense
I know some people will scream that Kyler isn't healthy:
Sure, except this is out there too:
Pretty clear that it's a decision because the offense has looked way better with Jacoby Brissett. I don't know how you keep Kyler around after this year now, someone has to take a shot on him even with the contract. But, Jonathan Gannon had no choice. Forget the fact that offense looked good against the Cowboys (not hard to do), we had this earlier in the week from Marvin Harrison Sr.:
[Source] - "It's very hard for me to watch the Cardinals' offense," Harrison Sr. told ESPN. "And you can quote me on that."
"The style of offense that I am accustomed to, that I'm used to watching as a professional eye, as a wide receiver … I just can't relate to watching that [current] offense, that style of offense," Harrison Sr. said. "Basically, I can't relate to what goes on there.
"I think that's just peacefully put, without pointing fingers or anything. It's just me. I'm giving you the professional eye. I can't relate to it. It don't add up to me. I can't deal with it."
Oh and if that's not enough, how about this line from Marvin Harrison Sr.:
"What I do know is you can put Marvin Harrison Sr., in my prime, in Arizona right now, and guess what happened?" he said. "Canton, Ohio, [home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame] is going to send me a prepaid envelope and say, 'Could you please send that jacket back?' So, I'm not speaking for anyone. I'm speaking for me.
"I'm just telling you that jacket, they'd be sending a prepaid envelope. 'Thanks for all your help, but send that jacket back, please.'"
That might be the meanest thing someone can say about a team or an offense. Just that if a Hall of Fame wide receiver was playing there, they'd make him give back his jacket. Brutal. You have to make a change after that sort of line. You can't keep rolling out the same thing and promising your fans explosives, pew pew. You don't think this was shared in the locker room at all? This is what Marvin Harrison Jr. did right after this story came out:
Again, not hard to do against the Cowboys, but still much needed. The real question is what the hell happens to Murray going forward? Seems like he's being told just stay away for a little and we'll find a way to convince the Raiders to take you. Maybe the Jets, we'll see who we can trick here. Either way, Jonathan Gannon had to make this move. You can't just bring Kyler back when Brissett has looked decent enough.
